Dr. Daniel Henderson teaches Songwriting, Creative Music Technology, Street Band, and the World Jazz Orchestra at BYU-Hawaii. Before moving to Hawaii, Daniel taught Jazz Harmony and Jazz Improvisation at Harvard University, where he was an 8-time recipient of the Harvard Certificate of Teaching Excellence. He holds DMA and MM degrees in Jazz Composition, with Academic Honors and the Gunther Schuller Medal, from New England Conservatory, where he studied with Bob Brookmeyer and Ken Schaphorst. He taught in NEC’s Jazz Studies, Musicology, and Music Theory faculties prior to joining Harvard’s faculty. His new YouTube song cycle is called Songs from the News.
